A Program for Every Age
Little Ninjas
Ages 2–6
Our youngest students learn to follow instructions, improve coordination, and build confidence through fun, age-appropriate movement games and basic Jiu-Jitsu concepts. Classes are energetic, safe, and designed for short attention spans — your toddler will love it.
Mon & Wed 5:30–6:15 PM
Kids Jiujitsu
Ages 7–12
Children in this program learn real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique: takedowns, positions, escapes, and submissions. Professor Carlos develops each child's technical foundation while fostering respect, discipline, and a competitive spirit — whether they want to compete or simply grow.
Mon & Wed 6:15–7:15 PM · Tue Competition 6:15–7:15 PM
Kids & Teens Nogi
Ages 7–Teen
No-gi grappling for kids and teens who want to cross-train or focus on submission wrestling without the traditional gi. A great complement to the gi program — faster paced and excellent for developing athleticism alongside technique.

/ 02 — Benefits
What Your Child Will Gain
Confidence
Children who train BJJ carry themselves differently. They know they can handle themselves — on the mat and off it. That quiet assurance builds over months and years of consistent training.
Discipline
Showing up, listening to the coach, drilling techniques 50 times in a row — BJJ teaches children that results come from consistent effort. That lesson carries into school, sports, and life.
Self-Defence
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the most effective self-defence system in the world for smaller individuals. Your child will know exactly what to do if physically threatened — without needing aggression or size.
Fitness & Health
Kids who train BJJ are active several times per week, developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness in a way that feels like play — not a workout.
Respect & Teamwork
BJJ is a team sport practiced in pairs. Children bow in, treat training partners with respect, and learn to win and lose with grace. The mats create friendships that last for years.
Resilience
Getting tapped out, getting back up, and drilling the same technique until it works — this is how BJJ builds mental toughness. Children who train learn to embrace challenge rather than avoid it.

Taught by Professor Carlos
Black Belt · Head Instructor · United BJJ Team
Professor Carlos Henriquez is a black belt with years of experience teaching children's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Pasadena, TX. He's known throughout the Greater Houston area for his ability to connect with kids of all ages — from two-year-olds in Little Ninjas to competitive teenagers.
Parents consistently describe him as patient, firm, and genuinely invested in each child's growth — not just their belt progression. He leads by example, getting on the mat and training alongside his students, which earns immediate respect from kids who can tell the difference between a great instructor and a babysitter in a gi.
United BJJ Team's kids program maintains a safe, structured training environment with zero tolerance for bullying behavior — on or off the mat. Children are held to a high standard of respect for their training partners and coaches at all times.

Yes. BJJ is one of the safest martial arts for kids because there is no striking — it is grappling only. Classes are grouped by age, techniques are introduced progressively, and all sparring is supervised by Professor Carlos and his coaches.
Athletic shorts and a t-shirt. No shoes are worn on the mat. If your child already has a gi (kimono), bring it, but it is not required for a first visit.
Yes. The first class is completely free with no commitment and no membership required. Text (832) 419-5960 to pick a day and just show up.
BJJ gives a child a physical skill they can measure themselves improving at, which is where real confidence comes from. Because it is control-based grappling rather than striking, it also gives kids a way to defend themselves and de-escalate a situation without hurting anyone.
